curve

On the Lewis and Clark Trail is a history/travel book that retraces the 1804-06 expedition of the Corps of Discovery into the Louisiana Territory from Camp DuBois in Hartford, Illinois to Fort Clatsop in Astoria, Oregon. With biographical material, journals kept by expedition members, letters and current roadmaps, writer and illustrator Rod Timanus mapped out and drove a route closely following the one taken by Lewis and Clark.
Mixing personal observation with historical facts, the book provides a narrative of what the Lewis and Clark expedition encountered on their journey and includes information about historic sites and restorations that exist today in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. Photographs, location maps, hours of operation and admission charges for various historic sites are also included
On the Lewis and Clark Trail will be a timely addition to the literature about the Lewis and Clark expedition. With the bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase and the journey of the Corps of Discovery to explore the vast new territory, more and more travelers will want to visit historic locations related to those events. This book will serve as a handy guide for anyone wishing to retrace portions, or all, of the route taken by Lewis and Clark.
